Winds Across the Bay will hold open auditions the third week of September for our 2008-09 season. All students must audition, every year.
Audition Requirements
The audition with the Conductor may consist of a chromatic scale, scales from three sharps to three flats, sight-reading, and a prepared piece of your choice that demonstrates your musicality and technical ability. It is very important to be prepared to the best of your ability for your audition, for it will determine your acceptance and seating within the band. However, Ray keeps auditions very relaxed and low-key, so don't stress out! Dress is casual.
Location and Appointments
Auditions are held in the band room at Adams Middle School, 5000 Patterson Circle, Richmond. Click here for a link to directions. The band room is best approached from Rosalind Ave at the intersection of Arlington Blvd and Solano Ave. Auditions will be held in 15-minute intervals, between 6 and 9 pm, on the following days:
Monday Sept 15
Tuesday Sept 16
Wednesday Sept 17
Thursday Sept 18.

info@WindsAcrossTheBay.org, to request your audition time. Your message should include your name, phone number, instrument, grade in school, and your first, second, and third choices for an audition time, and we will respond with a confirmation. The number of audition slots is limited, so consider your choice carefully; make-up times may be difficult to arrange. Call early if you need a certain date and time. If you would like to carpool to auditions with other musicians from your area, please make those arrangements with the other musicians and then request a block of time to accommodate everyone in your group.
Please let us know immediately if you are unable to keep your audition time. If after auditioning you find that you will not be joining the group, please let us know.
You will be mailed a Musician Information Form. Prior to your audition, fill it out completely, and bring it with you to your audition. Plan to arrive about fifteen minutes in advance of your audition time so that you have time to set up and warm up.
Rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings beginning Tuesday, September 23.
